Ok Michelle, tell our readers a little something special about The Latest Dish and Fluid?

Everything is special about both venues! For the Dish, the food is amazing, (the Mac & Cheese is by far the best in the city of Philadelphia), the staff are all really cool, plus we have a great alcohol & craft beer selection.

Why? Because they infuse all of their alcohol with natural ingredients, as well as their own home made Ginger beer. There is absolutely a zero chance of finding one of their specialty drinks in any other bar anywhere in Philadelphia. This is not something that is common in our city, so we deemed it necessary to bring this gem to you guys. The bar staff is exceptional, the bartenders have handlebar mustaches, it has a roof deck overlooking 13th St. and you’ll enjoy reading a wall written on by my most of its patrons. What more could you ask for? We interviewed one of the owners and the Head Bartender to get the inside scoop on running one of the city’s most interesting lounges. All in all… It’s a playground for drinking.

Leon Phelps Ok, so you’re single and times are tough. Unemployment, Rising Food Costs, Crashing Stock Market, Poor Job Security, Gas Prices....all this while trying to keep up with The Jones'.

In this recession, being single can be difficult. You frown at your friends Friday Night intent to indulge on VIP bottle service in the city's hottest lounges. Mortgage = due, Credit Cards = maxed, Pockets = malnourished, Nightlife = expensive....

Ok, before you get so depressed that you decide to dodge traffic on The Schuylkill, look at the bright side.

The weather is breaking, the birds are chirping and the city is beginning to have the vibrant spring time feel we all love. The Phillies are preparing to parallel their 2008 excellence, and the streets are beckoning for foot traffic.

We, the young, outgoing, and single are prepared to exit hibernation from eye-fu*cking our Facebooks/Myspaces/Gmails through the cold weather months and actually experience the life that we all post/bulletin/blog/chat about.

In the spirit of climbing out from these rocks of solitude and redundancy, let’s also nix the idea of lounge hopping through Rittenhouse or Old City for a nice change of pace. Not that we don’t need to make cameos at the most happening spots in the city, but tis’ the season for some spring cleaning. Why not with our social destinations as well?

Saturday - Early Evening - “Where do all the hippies meet? - South Street, South Street!” If you have heard this old time Philly jingle, then feel free to sing along! ; )

This just in, South Street is the melting pot of Philadelphia, and it’s about time you share in the cultural diversity, the plethora of entertainment, the unique shopping, and the culinary spectrum between Lombard and Bainbridge!

This is America people, shouldn’t we celebrate such an incredible patchwork of society?

A crisp falafel, a giant slice of pizza, a lightly-charred chicken souvlaki, a fully-stuffed burrito, a fresh spicy tuna roll, a cheesesteak oozing with Philly flavor!

The custom air-brushed sneakers, the colorful gators, the boutique stilletos, the Two-toned suede Timberlands, the latest in Christian Audiger footwear.......Treat your feet....Or just do a bit of window shopping.

A Mango Margarita, a can of PBR, A bubble-tea, a glass of Pinot Noir, and the ever infamous 190 Octane!

Realistically anything you could possibly need (and probably a handful of what you could never use) is all within arms reach on South Street. Embrace It!!

If you can identify by any of the aforementioned delights, then you can recollect all the fun you have had on South Street at some point. But, remember this isn’t all about CopaBanana, Jim’s, Fat Tuesday’s and Lorenzo’s (granted they are highlights!) This is about seeing different people, and experiencing different things for a nice change of pace. Don’t believe me? Well clearly you haven’t ponied up a few dollar donation to walk through the halls of Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, and Mosaic House. (1020-1022 South Street fyi.)

This weekend, enjoy a change of scenery, and indulge in the flavors and flavor of South Street!

Prive, Olde City, Philadelphia, single philly, dining philadelphia

Round 2. Prive in Olde City is an upscale restaurant that boasts a great variety of Mediterranean tapas that will leave your palette completely satisfied every time. Head Chef Peter Karapanagiotis was kind enough to spend some time with me and explain to Philly why this 6 month old establishment has what it takes to acquire quite the following. Besides having our last names butchered six ways from Sunday, we had one thing in common; the need for a seasonal and creative menu. When I tell you that Chef Peter has made it a priority to bring you a creative meal, I sincerely mean it. The following interview will give you just an idea of what his goals as Head Chef really are… You need to go there to get the full experience. You can thank me later.

What type of cuisine does Prive serve?

Mediterranean inspired with a French, Greek, Spanish and Italian twist. The menu changes about six times a year and offers the freshest in produce, meats and seafood.

Before we move forward, let’s take a step back.

single, philly singles, philadelphia, dining, dinner, save moneyLet's face it, the economy is rough. The job market is down. Lay-offs are happening all over the country and we’re all feeling the repercussions of an economic turndown.

I was discussing my own current status as an unemployed woman during my weekly bitch-fest with my best guy friend. I have a college degree, a spectacular resume and, I might add, a winning personality. Yet, I am at the point of begging restaurant owners, some of whom I know personally, to give me a few shifts a week. My friend happens to be in a similar situation and we laugh over dinner each week as we realize that we have applied to the same three jobs available on craigslist.org and have not heard back.

Bacio Italian Cuisine Goes Above and Beyond Your Typical Neighborhood Restaurant

single, philly singles, philadelphia, bacio, cinnaminson, new jersey, italian foodFor our first submission to the Philly Scene we visited head chef, and owner, Robert Minitti of Bacio Italian Cuisine in Cinnaminson, New Jersey. Cooking and creating intriguing dishes has always been a passion of Robert’s ever since he was young. He has had a lifetime to perfect it, so it is no surprise that he can create an amazing experience.

When you first step foot into Bacio, you are greeted as if you were family. The warm glow of the open kitchen and the candle light gives you that home feel, with some of the best service you can ask for. Robert and his wife Pam are very particular about making sure you are enjoying yourself while dining in what they like to call “their home.” Visit this place and you will find that to be true when they both take the time to visit each and every table. Now for some questions about this fascinating neighborhood restaurant.
