The weather is breaking, the birds are chirping and the city is beginning to have the vibrant spring time feel we all love. The Phillies are preparing to parallel their 2008 excellence, and the streets are beckoning for foot traffic.
We, the young, outgoing, and single are prepared to exit hibernation from eye-fu*cking our Facebooks/Myspaces/Gmails through the cold weather months and actually experience the life that we all post/bulletin/blog/chat about.
In the spirit of climbing out from these rocks of solitude and redundancy, let’s also nix the idea of lounge hopping through Rittenhouse or Old City for a nice change of pace. Not that we don’t need to make cameos at the most happening spots in the city, but tis’ the season for some spring cleaning. Why not with our social destinations as well?
Saturday - Early Evening - “Where do all the hippies meet? - South Street, South Street!” If you have heard this old time Philly jingle, then feel free to sing along! ; )
This just in, South Street is the melting pot of Philadelphia, and it’s about time you share in the cultural diversity, the plethora of entertainment, the unique shopping, and the culinary spectrum between Lombard and Bainbridge!
This is America people, shouldn’t we celebrate such an incredible patchwork of society?
A crisp falafel, a giant slice of pizza, a lightly-charred chicken souvlaki, a fully-stuffed burrito, a fresh spicy tuna roll, a cheesesteak oozing with Philly flavor!
The custom air-brushed sneakers, the colorful gators, the boutique stilletos, the Two-toned suede Timberlands, the latest in Christian Audiger footwear.......Treat your feet....Or just do a bit of window shopping.
A Mango Margarita, a can of PBR, A bubble-tea, a glass of Pinot Noir, and the ever infamous 190 Octane!
Realistically anything you could possibly need (and probably a handful of what you could never use) is all within arms reach on South Street. Embrace It!!
If you can identify by any of the aforementioned delights, then you can recollect all the fun you have had on South Street at some point. But, remember this isn’t all about CopaBanana, Jim’s, Fat Tuesday’s and Lorenzo’s (granted they are highlights!) This is about seeing different people, and experiencing different things for a nice change of pace. Don’t believe me? Well clearly you haven’t ponied up a few dollar donation to walk through the halls of Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, and Mosaic House. (1020-1022 South Street fyi.)
This weekend, enjoy a change of scenery, and indulge in the flavors and flavor of South Street!
