Everyday I’m reminded about the recession is crushing people, how the market is dying, how banks are folding, and how important it is to make wise decisions with our finances. It dawned upon me, that as a late 20’s bachelor, infamously known for playing the field freely, maybe it is time for me to think about planning for the future! See I already have the 401k in motion, manage my own businesses, and put together a small nest egg in savings. Sooooo, financially things could be worse. But let’s take the “All State Stand,” how about a little insurance for my future? If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m referring to my dating life not my economic plan.

Ok, so you’re single and times are tough. Unemployment, Rising Food Costs, Crashing Stock Market, Poor Job Security, Gas Prices....all this while trying to keep up with The Jones'.

In this recession, being single can be difficult. You frown at your friends Friday Night intent to indulge on VIP bottle service in the city's hottest lounges. Mortgage = due, Credit Cards = maxed, Pockets = malnourished, Nightlife = expensive....

Ok, before you get so depressed that you decide to dodge traffic on The Schuylkill, look at the bright side.

Mmmmmm.....Ahhhhhh......Shhhhhhh.....You don’t even need to say anything because your body language is speaking volumes love!

Often times, we men, find ourselves instating “rules of the game” with regards to dating conduct and protocol. You know, the typical, “Don’t bang your best friend’s ex, (unless of course he somehow dated Jessica Alba and it’s finally your shot!)”, “Don’t take the county sleaze out to dinner at Buddakan, when you could have easily received some quality road-head on the way home from Jim’s Steaks! (Pat’s!…No Geno’s!....No way, Tony Luke’s!….whatever, you get the point!)”

These are valid rules, violation is worthy of a technical foul, because some rules are just meant to keep the wildest players in line!

But what about “rules” that seem more like standards adopted from females. Maybe picked up during the one time we watched Sex in the City with our ex, or that time we glanced at her “Cosmopolitan Magazine” while she showered. (Be honest, you did that more often then once!)

 

It is 2009 and you’re a single man who no longer lives with mommy and daddy. You’re career-minded and just got that big promotion at work. You hit the gym 5 days a week and you’re in the best shape of your life. You have developed a keen fashion sense, with the perfect timepiece on your wrist to accent your wardrobe. Through your social networking, you have contacts at all of the hottest clubs in the city. And you drive a sexy car. Yet, as you raise your stock and make your way up the hierarchy of eligible bachelors, you find yourself falling just short of the top percentile. What could you possibly be missing?
